COMMON NOUNS AND PROPER NOUNS


There are many types of nouns. The basics of nouns are discussed in the earlier post (nouns). 

Here we are going to look in details about Common Nouns and Proper Nouns.

Common Nouns 

Common nouns are words that used to name general things. Common Noun do not start with capital letters, unless if it is in the beginning of a sentence. 

example: dog, kite, boy, house

example of sentence: 

1. The dog ate my sandwich.

2. Dogs are not afraid of cats. 


Proper Nouns 

Proper nouns are words used to name specific people, place, animal or thing.

Proper noun starts with a capital letter which sometimes consists of two or more words. 

example: Maxwell Hospital, Anne's International School, Tom

example of senetnce: 

1. Tom likes to play football.

2. The girls are studying at Anne's International School.
